The sleeves are too short, the trousers are too narrow, and the right size is sold out. Everyone has found themselves in this situation in front of empty shelves. Habasit does things differently – fabric belts are fabricated individually for each customer.
"Quality instead of quantity!" This idea is now returning to people's heads. The desire for individuality is increasing. A tailor-made suit is not only the dream of James Bond, but of many people. Habasit makes this possible. Each fabric belt is specially produced for the customer and perfectly meets their expectations.
The basis of individualisation is the selection of the optimum material. Once the decision has been made regarding the optimum belt selection for the client's application, the material, which is stored on coils in a width of up to four meters, is cut to the required length and width. It is like when a tailor takes a person's measurements.
Two become one
After the measurements and the material have been specified and the individual parts have been cut to length, the tailor starts sewing them together. At Habasit, this is the joining step. Here, the two ends are processed to be joined together. Depending on the respective requirements, the belt can be delivered open, endless, or with prepared ends; in other words, it is finished on site. As joining possibilities, thermofix, flexproof and the quick melt process, as well as a wide variety of mechanical fasteners, are available. Even oversizes are possible. Longitudinal joinings make it possible to fabricate belts in widths that exceed the manufacturing width, belts in size XXL so to speak. The suitable joining method is selected according to the belt type, area of application and customer requirements.
In addition to joinings, there are numerous further possibilities for assembling fabric belts. Value is placed on individual care down to the smallest detail. The assembly makes the small but fine difference in the fit. It makes a simple fabric belt a product that is tailored to the specific customer and the industry.
From a production belt to the tailor-made suit
As mechanical conveyors come in all shapes and sizes, a solid understanding of a customer specific conveying application requirement is essential in order to make a bespoke belt. Conveyed goods often have to overcome differences in height. For this inclined conveying, profiles in the form of cleats are placed on the fabric belts. This means that a type of shelf is created, in whose individual compartments products, e.g. fruit and vegetables, can be transported. In addition to cleats, profiles can also be placed as guides or on the side edges as sidewalls to prevent objects from falling from the belts. Profiles and sidewalls are available in many different versions.
Furthermore, the material can be adjusted by punching holes in it, or by adding an edge sealing. It is even possible to insert tiny metal plates between the fabric layers of the belt. In certain production processes, these plates are used for clocking. In the running application, a metal detector monitors the belt and triggers as soon as it detects one of the metal plates. The belt stops, and a product is positioned. Afterwards the belt starts running again until the next plate triggers, allowing the goods to be exactly positioned.
